On December 4, 2021， "Taijie Cup" the 6th N ational C ivil E ngineering M aterial D esign C ompetition was sponsored by School of Materials Science and Engineering of Tongji University, School of Materials science and engineering of Wuhan University of technology, School of materials science and engineering of Southeast University, School of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University, and was co-sponsored by Shanghai Taijie Chemical, Shanghai Ceramic Society, Undergraduate College of Tongji University, Shanghai Concrete Industry Association, Key Labortory of Advanced Civil Engineering Materials of Ministry of Educiation, Shanghai Society of Civil Engineering, Shanghai Building Materials Industry Association, CCPA-UHPC, Professional Committee of Shanghai Green Building Council, Editorial Department of Journal of Building Materials and other units or industry organizations at the Decai Hall of Jiading campus of Tongji University, Yang Xiaojie, Secretary of the Party committee of the school of materials science and engineering of Tongji University, delivered an opening speech, thanking teachers and students of participating universities across the country for their hard work for the competition, and thanking all judges and experts for their careful guidance and comments.

 

In the competition, the contestants showed their magic powers, fully demonstrated the sunshine and enterprising spirit of contemporary college students, and dedicated a number of excellent creative works of civil engineering materials with exquisite workmanship, profound meaning and strong artistry to the competition. After a fierce competition, all the awards were well-known, and the competition ended brilliantly!

The competition is still organized by the Department of civil engineering materials, School of materials science and engineering, Tongji University. The competition attracted 23 universities, 91 teams and nearly 400 college students across the country to sign up for the competition, and finally completed 73 works. Compared with the previous competition, there were four more participating universities. Adhering to the spirit of "consolidating professional knowledge, exchanging learning experience, breaking through professional boundaries, stimulating innovation consciousness, enhancing practical ability and cultivating excellent talents", this competition provides a broad knowledge exchange stage for the majority of material students, and also provides a rare opportunity for students to give full play to their innovative imagination, exercise their practical and expressive ability and other comprehensive abilities.

According to the quality of physical works, on-site (online) defense and exhibition boards, and according to the detailed classification and scoring standards, the competition was evaluated by ten famous experts from off campus architecture and building materials research or production units.

The theme of "energy conservation and environmental protection" is still used in this competition. It is required to use civil engineering materials to prepare creative works, or other materials to make civil engineering components or models.Under the careful guidance of their college teachers, the contestants carefully planned and prepared for the competition, showing a number of excellent works with creativity, quality and appreciation.

Through the fierce competition of five preliminary groups, a total of 20 works entered the first, second and third prize finals, and 5 works each entered the finals of three individual awards, including "BestCreativeWork Award", "BestExhibitionBoard Award" and "Best Exhibition Award". In addition, the "BestPopularity Award" was selected by online voting already.

Finally, the workSTCR^3, from the school of materials science and engineering of Tongji University and jointly produced by undergraduates and postgraduates, came to the fore and won the first prize. The works of Nanjing University of technology, Zhejiang University of technology, Beijing Architecture University, Army Engineering University, Changsha University and Tongji University won the second and third prizes and individual awards respectively.

After the competition,He Hongzhu, the leader of the evaluation expert and professor level senior engineer of China architectural standards design and Research Institute, commented on the competition. She praised the outstanding achievements of the competition. Compared with previous works, she made certain progress in creative ideas, moral connotation and workmanship quality, and pointed out the existing shortcomings and improvement direction.Yang Xiaojie, Secretary of the Party committee of the school of materials of Tongji University,Wang Lingling, deputy secretary,Zhu Hongbo, director of the laboratory,Sun Zhenping, director of the Department of civil engineering materials,Wu Kai, deputy director,Zhang Guofang, Secretary of the branch, andXu Linglin, teaching secretary, successively delivered welcome and thanks.

During the evaluation of the competition, the sixthYoungTeachers' Forum of the school of materials of Tongji University was held at the same time. Assistant ProfessorLi Chen was invited to give a wonderful report entitled "low carbon and sustainable development of cement and concrete industry", and Associate ProfessorLu Zichen was invited to give a wonderful report entitled "research progress of concrete admixtures".

So far, the "Taijie Cup" national sixth civil engineering materials creative works competition has come to a perfect end.
